the bucks mills cabin: a modern take

in conjunction with the National Trust, Devon based designer makers pachadesign, Sam Pickard & RAMP explore a modern take on the everyday objects left inside the artists cabin at Bucks Mills, a picturesque village on the North Devon Coast.

the cabin was owned by artists Judith Ackland & Mary Stella Edwards and is an evocative time capsule of their lives together - left today as it was in the 70's and now owned & carefully preserved by the National Trust.

this new group of artists will select some of the simple, everyday objects that Judith & Mary owned & used whilst living there and replace them with their own modern day interpretations.
{pachadesign: furniture & accessories, RAMP: ceramics, Sam Pickard: textiles}.

Hannah Jefferson from the National Trust says "The project with pachadesign, Sam Pickard & RAMP is a great way to bring the cabin to life in 2011. Involving local artists who are inspired by the same coastline as Judith & Mary, a modern take exhibition is the perfect opportunity to open the doors of the cabin to the general public, and get people talking about contemporary craft & design, in a setting which is lost in a different era".

the exhibition is open 15th - 17th & 22nd - 24th july 2011 {11am - 3pm daily}.
